Raiders Releasing WR Jordy Nelson

The Oakland Raiders are releasing veteran WR Jordy Nelson on Thursday, according to Vic Tafur

Marcus Thompson first reported the news.

Michael Gehlken notes that the Raiders have been clearly some available cash after their recent free agent signings and the addition of Antonio Brown

Nelson, 33, is a former second-round pick of the Packers back in 2008. He was entering the final year of his five-year, $43 million contract when the Packers released him last year.

The Raiders later signed Nelson to a two-year, $15 million contract.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Nelson will free up $3,568,750 of available cap space while creating $1.8 million in dead money.

In 2018, Nelson appeared in 15 games for the Raiders and caught 63 passes for 739 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
