Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Ravens have agreed in principle to trade QB Joe Flacco to the Broncos for a mid-round pick.

  • Albert Breer reports that the Broncos agreed to send the Ravens their 2019 fourth-round pick for Flacco.
  • Ian Rapoport says that Flacco will have to restructure his contract as part of the trade with the Broncos.

This trade can’t officially be processed by the NFL until the start of the 2019 league year on March 13.

Schefter mentions that new Broncos HC Vic Fangio spent one season in Baltimore while Flacco was the Ravensโ€™ QB and knows what they’re getting in terms of a player.

Beyond that, Flacco had support from former Broncos executive Gary Kubiak, who also worked directly with Flacco while in Baltimore.

It will be interesting to see if the Broncos elect to release QB Case Keenum now that they’re set to bring in a new quarterback.

Flacco, 33, is a former first-round pick of the Ravens back in 2008. He’s currently in the third year of a six-year, $125 million contract that contained $44 million guaranteed. He is set to make a base salary of $12 million this season to go along with another $18.5 million (2019), $20.25 (2020) million, $24.25 million (2021).

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Flacco will free up $16 million of available cap space while creating $10.5 million in dead money.

In 2018, Flacco appeared in nine games and completed 61.2 percent of his passes for 2,465 yards to go along with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions for the Ravens. He has also rushed for 45 yards. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 22 quarterback out of 38 qualifying players.

  1. Hey GMEN!!!!! Follow the Ravens’ lead and move on from Elisha Manning already. The Ravens were able to get a 4th rounder in the ’19 Draft for Flacco. That’s a lot better then the 5th rounder Gettleman got for DT Snacks Harrison this year.
Now! Case Keenum seems to be out in Denver. What are the odds the GMEN end up with Keenum? If the GMEN were offered Keenum, I would not give up anything more then a 7th rounder for him. But!!!!! Knowing Gettleman and his lack of knowledge in trade areas, Gettleman will get fleeced again.
