According to Tom Pelissero, the Saints have claimed CB Janoris Jenkins off of waivers from the Giants.
Pelissero notes that the transaction is deferred until tomorrow because the Saints play tonight.
Jenkins was waived with an injury designation last week after tweeting an insult at a fan and not showing sufficient remorse in his apology later. Jenkins is reportedly dealing with a minor ankle injury and should be fine in the near future.
The Saints will owe Jenkins two weeks of salary at $597,000 per week for the remainder of the season.
Jenkins, 31, is a former second-round pick of the Rams back in 2012. He spent four years with the Rams before signing a five-year, $62.5 million contract that included $28.8 million guaranteed with the Giants.
Jenkins stands to make base salaries of $10.15 million over the next two years of the agreement.
In 2019, Jenkins appeared in 13 games for the Giants and recorded 54 tackles, four interceptions and 14 pass defenses.
