According to Troy Renck of ABC 7, the Broncos and CB Chris Harris have had “very productive” contract talks in recent days and their meeting reportedly went “really well.”
Renck says that Harris’ goal is to retire as a member of the Broncos and he’s considered an “ideal fit” for Vic Fangio’s defensive scheme.
Harris has outplayed his current deal and is an obvious extension candidate for the Broncos this offseason.
Harris, 29, wound up signing on with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas back in 2011. He has played all seven years of his NFL career in Denver.
Harris is entering the final year of his five-year, $42.5 million contract that included a $10 million signing bonus and stands to make a base salary of $7.8 million for the 2019 season.
In 2018, Harris appeared in 11 games for the Broncos and recorded 48 tackles, one sack, three interceptions returned for a touchdown and 10 pass defenses.
We’ll have more regarding Harris as the news is available.
