According to Mike Klis, Broncos RB Melvin Gordon was cited for driving under the influence and speeding late Tuesday night.
Klis adds Gordon is expected to be arraigned in Denver County Court on Friday, Nov. 13. Denver is scheduled to leave the next day for a road game against the Raiders.
Denver is coming off a few day break after their bye week was moved up following last week’s postponement.
Klis adds based on past precedent Gordon could be facing a two or three-game suspension from the NFL. Broncos S Kareem Jackson was suspended two games for a similar incident, per Troy Renck.
Gordon, 26, is a former first-round pick out of Wisconsin by the Chargers in the 2015 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year $10.669 million rookie contract that was fully guaranteed and made a base salary of $1,889,967 for the 2018 season.
The Chargers picked up Gordon’s fifth-year option last May worth $5,605,000 for the 2019 season. He signed a two-year, $16 million deal in free agency with the Broncos this offseason.
In 2020, Gordon has appeared in four games for the Broncos and rushed for 281 yards on 65 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with 11 receptions for 45 yards receiving and four total touchdowns.
We’ll have more on Gordon as the news is available.
