According to new Broncos HC Vic Fangio, RB Phillip Lindsay and new CB Bryce Callahan are unlikely to be ready for minicamp in late April, per Ryan O’Halloran.
Callahan is recovering from foot surgery and Lindsay is rehabbing from a wrist injury.
Callahan was signed by the Broncos in free agency to a three-year, $21 million deal, reuniting with former defensive coordinator and Fangio. Lindsay made the AFC Pro Bowl roster as an undrafted rookie last year
Callahan, 27, wound up signing on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Rice back in 2015. He was waived a few weeks into his rookie season and later signed him to the team’s practice squad before later being called up.
The Bears re-signed him on a one-year deal restricted deal last April and he’s testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
In 2018, Callahan has appeared in 13 games for the Bears and recorded 45 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions and six pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 7 cornerback out of 112 qualifying players.
Lindsay, 24, wound up signing on with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Colorado in 2018. He agreed to a three-year, $1.71 million contract and managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason.
In 2018, Lindsay rushed for 1,037 yards on 1092 carries (5.4 YPC) to go along with 35 receptions for 241 yards receiving and 10 total touchdowns. He also contributed 186 kick and punt return yards.
