John McClain is reporting that the Houston Texans have signed former Broncos LB Joe Mays following a recent workout Monday morning.
- Adam Caplan reports that the Redskins also made Mays an offer, while the Saints showed interest in signing him as well.
- Caplan adds that Mays receives a one-year that includes $285,000 guaranteed and a $100,000 bonus for making the final roster cuts.
The Texans could use some additional linebacker depth as Brian Cushing is returning from a very serious knee injury.

The Denver Broncos announced the release of LB Joe Mays on Tuesday.
Mays, 28, was considered a long-shot to make the Broncos final roster, so it is not as though this is a huge supply. The Broncos were reportedly shopping him around the league during the draft, but ultimately found no interest.
He signed a three-year deal worth $12 million, which included $4.5 million guaranteed last year. Mays was set to make $4 million this season, but was unlikely to surpass Nate Irving and Stewart Bradley on the team’s depth chart.
