Broncos Waive S Shamarko Thomas, Promote S Trey Marshall

Mike Klis reports that the Broncos have waived S Shamarko Thomas on Monday and promoted S Trey Marshall to their active roster.

According to Klis, the Cardinals were trying to sign Marshall off of the Broncos’ practice squad, which is why they elected to make this move now.

Thomas, 27, is a former fourth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2,613,152 rookie contract with the Steelers and before signing on with the Jets last summer.

Thomas has brief stints with the Jets, Bills and Colts before signing on with the Broncos. Denver waived him coming out of the preseason, but elected to re-sign him a few weeks later.

In 2018, Thomas has appeared in six games for the Broncos and recorded seven tackles and no interceptions or pass defenses.
