Update:
The Cleveland Browns have already announced thatย Gregg Williams will be the team’s interim head coach andย Freddie Kitchens will serve as their offensive coordinator.
Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer is hearing that Gregg Williams, not Al Saunders, will be the Browns interim head coach, replacing Hue Jackson.
- Adam Schefter and Chris Mortenson have confirmed that Williams will be elevated to interim head coach.
- Aditi Kinkhabwala reports that the Browns have also named RBs coachย Freddie Kitchens their new offensive coordinator replacing Todd Haley.
A report surfaced earlier in the day that Saunders was going to get the interim title, but it appears as though that was premature and Williams will actually take over the role.
Williams, 60, has worked for several NFL teams over the course of his career including the Oilers/Titans, Bills, Redskins, Jaguars, Saints, and Rams before the Browns hired him as their defensive coordinator for the 2017 season.
