Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur is apparently willing to bench WR Greg Littleย because of his inability to hang on to passes thrown his way.
“We can’t play a guy that’s going to drop footballs,” said Shurmur, via Mary Kay Cabotย of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Little has had problems dropping the football since he entered the NFL back in 2011. ย Josh Cribbs isย currentlyย the third receiver on the Browns depth chart, so he could end up seeing some additional playing time in the coming weeks.
“We’re going to try to get the best combination of guys on the field at all positions,” added Shurmur.
The Browns need to get more consistent play out of the receivers, so it’s really hard to fault Shurmur for considering the idea. It’s just hard to sit one of your most talented players when you don’t have adequate replacements available.
