According to Ian Rapoport, the Browns have signed RB Elijah McGuire to the roster ahead of Monday night’s game against the Jets.
McGuire, released by the Jets a few weeks ago and signed to Cleveland’s practice squad, will replace Browns RB Dontrell Hilliard, who’s out with a concussion.
McGuire, 25, is a former sixth-round pick of the Jets back in 2017. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2.66 million contract and set to make a base salary of $645,000 for the 2019 season.
McGuire, unfortunately, suffered a broken foot last summer and was later placed on injured reserve before being activated during the season. The Jets elected to cut him loose coming out of the preseason.
In 2018, McGuire appeared in eight games for the Jets and rushed for 276 yards on 92 carries (3 YPC) to go along with 19 receptions for 193 yards receiving and four total touchdowns.
