The Cleveland Browns announced Friday that they’ve tendered a contract to restricted free agent WR Rashard Higgins and exclusive rights free agent DT Trevon Coley and DB Jermaine Whitehead.
Higgins gets an original-round tender worth $2.025 million for the 2019 season. The Browns will get an opportunity to match an offer he receives in free agency or let him go and collect a fifth-round pick.
Cleveland made it clear that they were going to tender a contract to Higgins, who had said he was hoping to get an extension in place with the Browns this offseason
Higgins, 24, is a former fifth-round pick of the Browns back in 2016. He was entering the second year of his four-year, $2.584 million contract when the Browns elected to cut him loose at the start of the 2017 season.
Higgins was later signed to the Browns’ practice squad before eventually being promoted to their active roster during the 2017 season.
In 2018, Higgins appeared in 13 games for the Browns and caught 39 passes for 572 yards receiving and four touchdowns.
