Bruce Arians Interested In Returning To Coaching, Says He’d Only Consider Browns

Former Cardinals HC Bruce Arians reiterated in an interview with Ian Rapoport that the Browns are the only team he’d considered coaching.

“I would listen to the Browns,” Arians said. “And only them.”

Arians tells Rapoport that he’s serious about returning to coaching, despite his health issues and his wife is even on board with him returning.

“I’ve always loved Cleveland,” Arians added. “The fans, shoot, one of the best groups in the league and when I called their game this past year, I got that feeling about them.”

Source tells Rapoport that the Browns plan to prioritize a hire who works for Baker Mayfield.

Arians has worked with a number of quarterbacks over the years, which could help his chances of being a serious candidate for the Browns’ job.

Interestingly enough, Arians mentioned that he would keep Freddie Kitchens as offensive coordinator and would consider keeping defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.

Arians made the decision to step down as the Cardinals’ head coach after the 2017 season due to concerns about his health.

Arians, 66, was hired by the Cardinals back in 2013 after he filled in for Colts HC Chuck Pagano while he was fighting cancer and managed to win Coach of the Year. During his five years with the Cardinals, Arians led them to a record of 49-30-1 (61.9 percent), which includes two playoff appearances and a trip to the NFC Championship game in 2015.
