Buccaneers Activate RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn, Sign WR Jaydon Mickens

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced Sunday that they’ve signed WR Jaydon Mickens and activated rookie RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn from the COVID-19 list.

Ke'Shawn Vaughn

Vaughn, 22, was a two-year starter at Illinois before transferring to Vanderbilt as a junior. The Buccaneers selected him with the No. 76 pick in this year’s draft.

Vaughn is projected to sign a four-year, $4,755,996 rookie contract that includes a $1,018,907 signing bonus.

During his college career, he appeared in 29 games for Rutgers before transferring to the Buckeyes as a fifth-year senior and started all 12 games.

Mickens, 26, wound up signing on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Washington back in 2016. He was waived at the start of the season and spent his rookie year on their practice squad before returning to the team on a future/reserve contract in 2017.

The Raiders waived him with an injury designation coming out of the preseason and later signed with the Jaguars. The Buccaneers added him to their practice squad and eventually promoted him to the active roster last December.

The Bucs waived Mickens last week.

In 2018, Mickens appeared in five games for the Jaguars and totaled 118 kick return yards and another 59 punt return yards and no touchdowns.
