Buccaneers Not Interested In Signing Veteran G Richie Incognito

Buccaneers HC Lovie Smith recently implied that if they were interested in signing veteran G Richie Incognito to a contract, they most likely would have already done so.

“All players that are available, we look to see if they would fit in our program,’’ Smith said, via Roy Cummings of the Tampa Bay Tribune. “All players. And I will just kind of leave it at that. If we are really interested in someone, we will bring them in.’’

Incognito mentioned that his agent is continuing to look for NFL opportunities and they have actually had “some nibbles”‘ from NFL teams.

Incognito made it clear that despite his hope of signing on with an NFL team, he’s not taking any chances that could future opportunities.

“I’m not talking until I get picked up,” said Incognito, via Josh Peter of USA Today. “I’m standing pat on that.”

Incognito, 31, appeared in eight games last season before he was suspended indefinitely. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 24 guard in the league last year, and an above average player in both run and pass-blocking.
