Buccaneers Place C A.Q. Shipley On IR, Activate LB Jack Cichy, Promote Two

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Saturday that they have placed C A.Q. Shipley on injured reserve and activated LB Jack Cichy, and also promoted DB Herb Miller and G John Molchon from the practice squad.

“A.Q. Shipley appears to have had a career-ending injury,” Arians told SiriusXM NFL Radio, via JoeBucsFan.com. “And I feel bad because I love A.Q. He’s one of my favorite players of all-time and was playing good for us. But I think it was a previous injury that might have just got aggravated in his neck.

Tampa Bay had been playing Shipley at center and Ryan Jensen at guard. However, it sounds like Shipley will be headed to injured reserve.

Shipley, 34, is a former seventh-round pick of the Steelers back in 2009. He lasted just over a year with the Steelers before having stints with the Eagles, Colts, and Ravens.

The Cardinals signed him to a two-year contract in 2015, brought him back on another two-year, $3.5 million extension, and then re-signed him to another one-year deal last year.

Shipley signed on with the Buccaneers at the start of the regular season.

In 2020, Shipley appeared in five games for the Buccaneers, making two starts for them.
