Buccaneers Promote QB Mike Kafka To Active Roster, Release G Rishaw Johnson

Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports that the Buccaneers signed QB Mike Kafka to their active roster on Thursday.

In order to make room for Kafka, the Bucs released G Rishaw Johnson and signed OL Josh Allen to their practice squad.

Tampa Bay brought in former Seahawks and Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor for a workout in recent days, so they were clearly looking at all of their options to find a backup for Mike Glennon.

Josh McCown has expressed some optimism that he could be back in the near future, but he’s dealing what was said to be a serious thumb sprain.
