Buccaneers Sign WR David Gettis

Greg Auman of the Tampa Tribune reports that the Buccaneers have signed veteran WR David Gettis to a contract following his recent workout.

  • The Buccaneers announced that they waived LB Steven Jenkins and OT Emmett Cleary on Tuesday.

Gettis, 26, was a sixth-round pick of the Panthers back in 2010. He spent four years with Carolina and appeared in a total of 17 games during this time. However, Gettis hasn’t played in a game since 2012 and has dealt with some injuries over the course of his NFL career.

Tampa Bay has a lot of receivers on their roster right now, so Gettis will be competing with a group that consists of: Louis Murphy, Lavelle Hawkins, Chris Owusu, Eric Page, Skye Dawson, Russell Shepard, Tommy Streeter, Solomon Patton and Quintin Payton.

Other plays to work out for the Bucs last week include: CB Kip Edwards, DT Ronald Talley, S Tony Dye, P Kirby Van Der Camp, LB T.J. Fatinikun.
