Cameron Wake A No Show At Dolphins OTAโ€™s, Holdout Possible

Update:

ESPNโ€™s Adam Schefter reports that reports that Dolphins DE Cameron Wake โ€œdoesnโ€™t plan to show up to workouts without a new deal.โ€

Considering his production and where he is in his career, this is a pretty obvious move for Wake. His value couldnโ€™t be higher and the longer he waits to secure a long-term deal, the more likely heโ€™ll have to lower his asking price. This could develop into a pretty contentious situation for the Dolphins depending on how they choose to approach it.

Things keep getting better for the Dolphins.

Jason La Canfora of NFL.com reports that Miami Dolphins DE Cameron Wake made the decision to not attend the start of the teamโ€™s OTAโ€™s today. La Canfora adds that Wake โ€œcould be absent for quite some time.โ€

While itโ€™s worth mentioning that these workouts are not mandatory, it does suggest that Wake is willing to holding out if his contract isnโ€™t addressed at some point in the near future.

According to La Canfora, the Dolphins have told him that they would like make his contract โ€œmore in line with his performance,โ€ but talks between the two sides havenโ€™t made much of any progress thus far.

Wake, 30, has been a standout player since signing with the Dolphins and is clearly their only legitimate pass rusher right now. Heโ€™s set to make  $650,000 for the upcoming season, so you can see why heโ€™s considering not showing up for their offseason workouts.
