Cardinals Activate WR Trent Sherfield From COVID-19 List, Designate CB Kevin Peterson & DT Leki Fotu To Return From IR

The Cardinals announced they have activated WR Trent Sherfield from the COVID-19 list.

Arizona also designated DT Leki Fotu and CB Kevin Peterson to return from injured reserve and officially signed TE Evan Baylis to the practice squad.

Sherfield, 24, signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Vanderbilt in 2018. He signed a standard three-year deal and has managed to make the roster coming out of camp each of the past three years.

In 2020, Sherfield has appeared in 10 games for the Cardinals and caught one pass for six yards.

Peterson, 26, wound up going undrafted out of Oklahoma State in May of 2017. He was signed by the Bears but waived coming out of the preseason.

Peterson caught on with the Rams practice squad late in the year and re-signed to a future/reserve contract in 2017. He bounced on and off Los Angeles’ active roster before re-signing as an exclusive rights free agent in 2019.

The Rams waived Peterson coming out of the preseason in 2019 and he was claimed off waivers by the Cardinals. Arizona had earlier declined to tender him as a restricted free agent.

In 2020, Peterson has appeared in eight games for the Cardinals and recorded two total tackles.
