Update:

Cardinals HC Bruce Arians announced Friday that QB Drew Stanton does not need to undergo surgery on his injured and added that he’ll just need some rest.

  • According to Arians, there is no timetable for his return as of now.

Former NFL team physician David Chao mentioned that Stanton is unlikely to play in Week 16’s game against the Seahawks, but there is a good chance that he will back for the playoffs.

Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 updates the status of Cardinals QB Drew Stanton with a report that he is believed to have a sprained ACL and Grade 2 MCL sprain after undergoing an MRI Friday.

Head coach Bruce Arians is scheduled to meet with the media shortly, so we should have confirmation of Stanton’s injury soon enough.

Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 reports that the Cardinals “fear” that QB Drew Stanton may have sustained an ACL injury during Sunday’s win over the Rams.

  • Jurecki mentions that Stanton will undergo an MRI on Friday to determine the severity of the injury.

An ACL injury would most likely end Stanton’s 2014 season and for Arizona to move forward with Ryan Lindley and rookie Logan Thomas as their top-two quarterbacks.

Of course, there is always a chance that they could bring in another quarterback in the coming days, but it’s not as though there is a quality quarterback out there ready to step in and lead them on a playoff run.

The Cardinals signed Dennis Dixon earlier in the year, so he could be someone to keep an eye on.

Arizona lost Carson Palmer for the season after he went down with an ACL tear over a month ago.

Stanton, 30, signed a three-year, $8.2 million contract that included $3 million guaranteed with the Cardinals back in 2013. He still has another year remaining on his contract, which includes a base salary of $2.45 million to go along with a $500,000 roster bonus.

Heading into tonight’s game, Stanton had thrown for 1,711 yards while completing 55 percent of his passes to go along with seven touchdowns and five interceptions.

We’ll have more updates as the news is available.
