Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury said he would still like to add another wide receiver.
“I still think we need to look at somebody outside who can take the top off a little bit and scare people as a vertical threat,” Kingsbury said Tuesday during the NFL owners meetings. “It looked like last year that was lacking a little bit particularly when Christian (Kirk) got hurt. Theyโll sit on you in this league if you donโt have one guy that scare you.”
Byrd, 26, wound up signing on with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina back in 2015. Since then Byrd has been on and off of their active roster.
In 2017, the Panthers placed Byrd on injured reserve with a fractured forearm before activating him later on the season. Unfortunately, Carolina once again placed Byrd on injured reserve a few weeks later.
The Panthers re-signed Byrd to a one-year contract last April.
In 2018, Byrd appeared in eight games for the Panthers and caught one pass for eight yards receiving to go along with 138 return yards.
