Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald Undecided About Returning For 2019 Season

Cardinals veteran WR Larry Fitzgerald tells Adam Schefter of ESPN that he’s still undecided about returning for the 2019 season.

Fitzgerald mentioned that he plans to take some time to collect his thoughts, but the team’s decision to hire Kliff Kingsbury as their new head coach has not swayed him one way or another.

Cardinals owner Michael Bidwell said recently that he plans speak with Fitzgerald about returning when the time is right.

Reports from last summer mentioned that Fitzgerald may be open to playing beyond the 2018 season, but he has been taking things year to year the past few seasons.

Fitzgerald, 35, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2004. He agreed to renegotiate his seven-year $113 million contract and signed a two-year, $22 million deal with Arizona that was fully guaranteed included a no-trade clause back in 2015.

Fitzgerald has agreed to a few one-year extensions in recent years and he’s once again in position to be an unrestricted free agent in 2019.

In 2018, Fitzgerald appeared in 16 games and caught 69 receptions for 734 yards receiving and six touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 37 receiver out of 122 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
