Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com writes that Chargers FB Le’Ron McClain is likely to be on the chopping block this offseason.
As things stand right now, McClain is set to make $2.5 million for the 2014 season. However, the Chargers are projected to be over the cap, which means it’s going to be hard for them to a fullback at that price.
Williams mentions that McClain only played 12 percent of the Chargers snaps in this season.
McClain, 29, hasn’t been a consistent fullback dating back to his time with Baltimore and still has a solid reputation as quality lead blocker.
Releasing McClain would free up $2.5 million in cap space, according to Overthecap.com.
