According to Aaron Wilson, the Chargers brought in five free-agent running backs for tryouts on Tuesday.
The full list of workouts includes:
- RB Brian Herrien
- RB Jon Hilliman
- RB Troymaine Pope
- RB Bilal Powell
- RB Scarlett Jordan
Los Angeles also hosted LB Malik Jefferson for a visit on Tuesday.
Powell, 30, is a former fourth-round pick of the Jets back in 2011. He played out the final year of his rookie contract before agreeing to a three-year, $11.25 million deal that included $6 million guaranteed with the Jets back in 2016.
Powell finished out his three-year deal in March of last year and returned to New York on a one-year, $1.02 million agreement for 2019. He has been testing the market as an unrestricted free agent since March.
In 2019, Powell appeared in 13 games and recorded 59 rushing attempts for 229 yards (3.9 YPC) and no touchdowns, to go along with seven receptions for 33 yards receiving (4.7 YPC).
