Chargers Hosted Former Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman For Visit

Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that the Chargers brought in former Broncos RBย Ronnie Hillman for a visit on Tuesday.

This is the first reported interest in Hillman since he was among the Broncos’ final roster cuts.

San Diego elected to sign Dexter McCluster to a contract today, so it would be surprising to see the Chargers sign another running back this week.

Hillman, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Broncos back in 2012. He played out his rookie contractย before re-signing with Denver on aย one-year, $2 million contract this past April.

However, the Broncos cut him loose in a move that freed up $1.5 million in available cap space while creating $500,000 in dead money.

In 2015, Hillman appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos and ran for 863 yards on 207 carries (4.2 YPC) to go along with 24 receptions for 111 yards receiving and seven total touchdowns.ย Pro Football Focusย has him rated as the No. 49 running backย out of qualifying 69 players.
