According to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, the Chargers areย “keeping Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in mind” following the torn Achilles sustained by CB Jason Verrett last week.
Last month, Rodgers-Cromartieย told a group of Giants reporters that he planned to wait until closer to the season to sign with a new team. Rodgers-Cromartie added that multiple teams have contacted him and expressed interest.
However, there haven’t been any updates about potential opportunities for him until now.
Rodgers-Cromartie visited with the Redskins earlier this offseason but left without an agreement in place.
Rodgers-Cromartie, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2008. He was in the final year of his five-year, $35 million contract that included $13.98 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $6.48 million for the 2018 season when the Giants released him in a move that freedย up $6.5 millionย of available cap space.
In 2017, Rodgers-Cromartie appeared in 15 games and recorded 48 tackles, a half sack, no interceptions and pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 58 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.
