Michael Gehlkenย reports that theย Chargers are promoting CB Trevor Williams to their activeย roster after they lost CB Jason Verrett for the season, due to an ACL tear.
Williams, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State back in May. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later signed to the team’s practice squad a day later.
During his four-year college career, Williams recorded 84 tackles, five interceptions, 16 pass defenses and a forced fumbles over the course of 44 games.
