According to Adam Schefter, Chargers S Derwin James is now running pain-free and is on track to return as scheduled following the team’s bye in Week 13 against the Broncos.
James is currently on injured reserve following a procedure to replace a screw that was inserted into his foot last summer. He’s eligible to return and be activated from injured reserve any day now.
James, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Chargers back in 2018. He agreed to a four-year, $12,432,314 contract with the Chargers that includes a $7,121,684 signing bonus.
James’ contract includes a fifth-year option for the Chargers to pick up in 2021.
In 2018, James appeared in all 16 games for the Chargers and recorded 105 tackles, 3.5 sacks, three interceptions, and 13 pass defenses.
