Update:
The Chargers announced Friday that S Derwin James has been diagnosed with a stress fracture of the fifth metatarsal of his right foot.
Here’s a statement from the team: “He will continue to be evaluated, and the course of treatment is still to be determined.”
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Chargers S Derwin James will miss a “significant amount of time” with a foot injury.
According to Rapoport, James’ specific timetable to return hasn’t been determined at this point.
James injured his foot on Thursday and was seen with a boot this morning.
James, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Chargers back in 2018. He agreed to a four-year, $12,432,314 contract with the Chargers that includes a $7,121,684 signing bonus.
James’ contract includes a fifth-year option for the Chargers to pick up in 2021.
In 2018, James appeared in all 16 games for the Chargers and recorded 105 tackles, 3.5 sacks, three interceptions, and 13 pass defenses.
We’ll have more regarding James as the news is available.
