Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Chargers are working to re-sign ILB Denzel Perryman in advance of free agency.
Perryman is reportedly viewed as a key part of the Chargers’ defense moving forward and Los Angeles is looking to maintain some defensive continuity moving forward in terms of their front-seven.
Perryman, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Chargers back in 2015. He played out the final year of his four-year, $4.776 million contract and made a base salary of $750,000 for the 2018 season.
Perryman is in line to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
In 2018, Perryman appeared in nine games for the Chargers and recorded 51 tackles, no sacks, an interception and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 32 linebacker out of 92 qualifying players.
We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
