According to Tom Pelissero, Chargers WR Mike Williams is expected to be out for 2-4 weeks with his shoulder injury.
That timeline puts Week 1 in question for the former first-round receiver. Williams avoided a broken collarbone but is still dealing with some kind of sprain.
Chargers HC Anthony Lynn said Williams will be “out for a while” and is also unsure if he can make it back by Week 1, per Daniel Popper.
Williams, 25, was selected with the No. 7 overall pick by the 2017 NFL draft. He was entering the final year of a four-year contract worth $19.75 million which included a signing bonus of $12.50 million when the Chargers picked up his fifth-year option this offseason.
Williams will make a base salary of $735,000 in 2020 and $15.68 million in 2021 under the fifth-year option.
In 2019, Williams appeared in 15 games for the Chargers and had 49 receptions for 1,001 yards (20.4 YPC) and two touchdowns.
