Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Chiefs hosted Cardinals restricted free agentย DT Xavier Williams on a visit this weekend.
The Cardinals used the right of first refusal restricted tender on Williams, which means they can matchย anย offer sheetย he receives from anotherย team.ย However, they would not receive any draft pick compensation if they were to decline to match the offer.
This is the first reported interest in Williams since the free agent market officially opened.
Williams, 26, wound up signing on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Iowa back in 2015. He wound up playing out his three-year, $1,583,000 contract with the Cardinals as is now testing the open market as a restricted free agent.
In 2017, Williams appeared in 11 games for the Cardinals and recorded 20 tackles, a half sack and a forced fumble. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 42 interior defender out of 122 qualifying players.
