The Kansas City Chiefs officially signed TE Deon Yelder to their practice squad on Thursday and released DB Leon McQuay from the unit.

The Chiefs’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. WR Josh Crockett
  2. WR Gehrig Dieter
  3. OT Ryan Hunter
  4. QB Chase Litton
  5. LB Rob McCray
  6. DB D’Montre Wade
  7. C Jimmy Murray

Yelder, 23, wound up signing on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Western Kentucky back in May. He signed a three-year, $1.71 million contract with New Orleans, but was unfortunately waived coming out of the preseason.

The Saints later re-signed Yelder to their practice squad before electing to cut him loose a few days ago.

During his college career at Western Kentucky, Yelder caught 52 passes for 688 yards receiving while rushing for 15 yards on two carries and scoring eight total touchdowns over the course 12 games.
