Chiefs Signing DL Taco Charlton

Terez A. Paylor of Yahoo Sports reports that the Chiefs are signing former first-round DL Taco Charlton to a one-year contract.

Charlton officially cleared waivers on Friday after the Dolphins opted to cut him loose yesterday. However, it appears as though it didn’t take long for a deal to surface for him with the defending champs.

Charlton, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2017. Dallas made the decision to waive him in September of last year and was claimed by Miami shortly after.

Charlton was entering the final year of his four-year, $10.02 million rookie contract and set to make a base salary of $1.83 million in 2020 when he was waived.

In 2019, Charlton appeared in 10 games and recorded 21 total tackles, three tackles for loss, five sacks, and two forced fumbles. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 100 overall edge defender out of 107 qualifying players.
