Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean reports talks between the Titans and Chris Johnson have in factย “picked up,” and there is “reason to be optimistic.” ย Wyatt also mentions that the deal could be done before week 1.
This report backs up Michael Lombardi’s report from yesterday (located below) but the good news is that both sides have the sense of urgency that’s required to get the deal done.

Michael Lombardi of the NFL Networkย mentioned that the Tennessee Titans areย โready to make the offerโ that will get Chris Johnson back on the practice field, perย Chris Wesseling.
Lombardi specifically said that the Titans are โvery aggressiveโ and would like to have this deal done by the end of the week. Lombardi adds that โtheyโve opened up the bank vault,โ and โit looks like theyโre going to pay him.โ

NFL Networkโs Jason LaCanforaย mentioned that โwouldnโt be shocked at allโ if Chris Johnson and the Titans have a โbreakthroughโ by the end of the week.
La Canfora sees the the two sides getting a deal done with enough time to get Johnson ready for the start of the season which could be good news for anyone that happens to own Chris Johnson in their fantasy league.
Keep in mind that this is La Canforaโs opinion. The situation could definitely change as the days go on. Weโll have more updates as they become available.

Yahooโs Jason Cole reports that the Tennessee Titans and RBย Chris Johnsonย will be meeting again on Tuesday but cautions anyone that progress is not guaranteed.
โDonโt expect much, but talking is better than not,โ says Cole.
As we learned from the CBA negotiations that played out for the better part of six months, talks between the two sides pick up when thereโs something to be lost and with the Titans season opener twelve days away, itโs suffice to say that the negotiations are nearing theย eleventhย hour.
As of now you would assume that Chris Johnson and his representation have more leverage than the Titans considering that heโs already passed the point were heโll get to count the coming season asย accruedย experience. Tennessee knows that theyโre better with him than without so getting a deal done sooner is to their benefit. The longer they wait the more his asking price gets justified by the other deals signed. Titans fans can thankย Larry Fitzgeraldย andย Michael Vickย for that much.
