Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that free agent QB Colin Kaepernick and S Eric Reid continue to work out daily in the hope of playing in the NFL again.
However, La Canfora admits that it does not appear any teams are seriously considering the possibility of signing Kaepernick to a contract at this point in time.
Even so, Kaepernick is said to be in good spirits and continuing to work on his throwing, strength and conditioning program.
As for the collusion case against the NFL, La Canfora reports that league sources fully anticipate that process taking place prior to the end of the regular season, possibly in November or December. In total, it could take two weeks or more to complete the process, with owners, coaches, NFL officials and others required to take part and answer questions.
The last reported interest in Kaepernick came back in April when the Seahawks considered bringing him in for a workout, but declined to do so after he wouldn’t clarify what his plans were in terms of protesting moving forward.
As for Reid, he met with the Bengals and had a visit scheduled with the Titans, but never traveled to Tennessee due to weather issues.
Kaepernick, 30, is a former second-round pick of the 49ers back in 2010. He was in the third year of his seven-year, $126.97 million contract that included $61 million guaranteed when reached an agreement with the 49ers on a restructured deal that allowed him to become an unrestricted free agent in 2016.

In 2017, Reid appeared in 13 games for the 49ers and recorded 67 tackles, two interceptions, a fumble recovery and four pass defenses.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 30 safety out of 87 qualifying players.
