Colts Placing WR Devin Funchess On Injured Reserve

Colts HC Frank Reich announced Monday that WR Devin Funchess underwent surgery for a broken clavicle and is being placed on injured reserve, per Mike Chappell.

The good news, however, is that Reich says the Funchess’ injury isn’t season-ending, per Stephen Holder.

Funchess was brought in to complement T.Y. Hilton as the Colts’ No. 2 receiver this year, but his injury could push Deon Cain, Chester Rogers and rookie Parris Campbell into larger roles moving forward.

Funchess, 25, is a former second-round pick by the Panthers in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Michigan. He finished his four-year rookie contract with Carolina before agreeing to a one-year deal worth up to $13 million with the Colts this offseason.

Funchess will once again be an unrestricted free agent in 2020.

In 2019, Funchess has appeared in one game and caught three passes for 32 yards receiving.
