On Friday, Colts HC Frank Reich told reporters that QB Jacoby Brissett will be a game-time decision for them on Sunday after he put in three limited practices this week.
“I’m encouraged… But we have to make the right decision,” Reich said of Brissett, per Stephen Holder.
Brissett is dealing with an MCL sprain and won’t be 100 percent healthy should he suit up this weekend.
Reich said that Brissett’s knee issue “is not an uncommon injury to play with” and added that there’s little risk of further injury, per Joel A. Erickson.
Should the Colts elect to hold Brissett out on Sunday, veteran Brian Hoyer would serve as the team’s starter.
Brissett, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Patriots back in 2016. The Patriots traded Brisset to the Colts coming out of the preseason in 2017 in return for WR Phillip Dorsett.
Brissett was in the final year of his four-year, $3.411 million contract when he agreed to a two-year deal worth $30 million that included $20 million guaranteed at signing with the Colts back in September.
In 2019, Brissett has appeared in eight games and completed 64.8 percent of his passes for 1,649 yards, 14 touchdowns and three interceptions. He has also rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown.
Weโll have more regarding Brissett as the news is available.
