Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Colts are releasing CB Pierre Desir on Saturday.
Had the Colts kept Desir on their roster as of Sunday, $3 million of his 2020 salary would have been guaranteed.
Desir, 29, is a former fourth-round pick of the Browns back in 2014. He was waived by the Browns at the start of the 2016 season and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Chargers.
After a brief stint with the Chargers, Desir signed with the Seahawks and finished out the year in Seattle. He was waived by the Seahawks at the start of the 2017 season and later claimed by the Colts.
Desir re-signed with the Colts and agreed to a three-year deal worth up to $25 million with $12 million guaranteed last year.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Desir will free up $6,850,000 of available cap space while creating no dead money.
In 2019, Desir appeared in 12 games for the Colts and recorded 50 tackles, three interceptions and 11 passes defended. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 73 cornerback receiver out of 113 qualifying players.
