Colts Sign TE Ryan Hewitt, Place Second-Round DL Tyquan Lewis On IR

The Indianapolis Colts announced that they’ve signed veteran TE Ryan Hewitt to a contract and placed second-round DL Tyquan Lewis on injured reserve Monday

Indianapolis also signed G Jamil Douglas, DE Carroll Phillips, LB Ahmad Thomas, and DE Jihad Ward to their practice squad.

The Colts’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. TE Mo Alie-Cox
  2. WR Steve Ishmael
  3. WR Reece Fountain
  4. QB Phillip Walker
  5. CB D.J. White
  6. G Jamil Douglas
  7. DE Carroll Phillips
  8. LB Ahmad Thomas
  9. DE Jihad Ward

This shouldn’t come as a big surprise, considering that Lewis is expected to miss nine weeks with a foot injury.

Lewis, 23, was selected by the Colts in round two of this year’s draft after they traded up to get him. He receives a four-year, contract worth $4,366,054, which includes a $1,255,312 signing bonus.

During his college career at Ohio State, Lewis recorded 112 tackles, 37 tackles for a loss, 23.5 sacks, five pass defenses and five forced fumbles.
