According to Jim Ayello, the Colts are working on a contract extension for RB Marlon Mack.
Ayello expects a deal to come together sometime around the NFL Scouting Combine at the end of the month. Mack rushed for more than 1,000 yards this past season and has been Indianapolis’ leading rusher the past two seasons.
With quarterback still an uncertain piece of the puzzle for the Colts going forward, Mack figures to be one of the key players on offense for the foreseeable future.
Mack, 23, is a former fourth-round pick of the Colts back in 2017. He’s entering the final year of his four-year, $2.81 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $735,000 over the final year of the agreement.
In 2019, Mack appeared in 14 games for the Colts and rushed for 1,091 yards on 247 carries (4.4 YPC) and eight rushing touchdowns to go along with 14 receptions for 82 yards receiving.
