Cowboys, Jets, Ravens & Browns All Vying For WR Allen Hurns, Meeting With Jets Thursday

According to Adam Schefter, the Cowboys, Jets, Ravens and Browns are all vying for free agent WR Allen Hurns.

Josina Anderson reports that Hurns will be traveling to meet with the Jets on Thursday after completing his visit with the Cowboys.

Hurns mentioned earlier in the week during an interview that he’s already heard from around 10 since being released by the Jaguars earlier in the day.

“Right now, the teams have reached out, it’s probably like 10 teams: the Bears, the Bills, Saints, Texans, Jets, Raiders, Panthers, there’s a couple of other teams,” Hurns said during an interview with Charlotte radio station WFNZ on Tuesday, via the Advocate. “I should be hearing more soon.”

It’s worth mentioning that signing Hurns to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.

Hurns, 26, signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Miami back in 2014. He was in the final year of his rookie contract when the Jaguars signed him to a five-year, $40.6 million deal that included $20 million guaranteed in 2016.

Hurns was set to make base salaries of $6.9 million and $7.9 million over the next two years of the agreement when the Jaguars released him in a move that freed up $7 million of available cap space.

In 2017, Hurns appeared in 10 games for the Jaguars and caught 39 passes for 484 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 23 receiver out of 116 qualifying players.
