The Dallas Cowboys officially placed DB Jason Thompson on waivers Friday.
Thompson, 24, wound up going undrafted out of Utah back in May of last year. He signed on with the Patriots but spent just a few months in New England before he was waived at the start of the 2017 season.
Thompson had brief stints with the Bears and Seahawks as a practice squad member last season before signing a futures contract with the Cowboys this past February.
Thompson actually began his college career as a quarterback at Wyoming before transferring to Utah and converting to defensive back for the 2015 season.
In total, Thompson recorded 21 tackles and a fumble recovery at Utah.
