Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the Cowboys are working out free agent kickers Robbie Gould and Kai Forbath with Dan Bailey dealing with a back.
- Todd Archer adds thatย Aldrick Rosas is also trying out for the Cowboys.
Cowboys HC Jason Garrettย admitted that Bailey’s status for Week 5 was up in the air and they may have to consider signing a kicker for this week, so this doesn’t come as a complete surprise.
Gould, 34, originally signed on with the Patriots back in 2005 as an undrafted free agent, but he lasted just a few months in New England before joining the Ravens briefly and later signing on with the Bears.
Gould was in the fourth year of his five-year, $17.925 million contractย when he was released by the Bears in a move that freed up $3 million in available cap space.
In 2015, Gould appeared in all 16 games for the Bears and converted 33 of 39 field goal attempts (84.6 percent) to go along with 28 of 29 extra point tries (96.6 percent) and 39 touchbacks.
Forbath, 29, originally signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2011. He lasted around eight months with the team before he was placed on waivers and later claimed by the Redskins.
Last year, Washington placed an original round tender onย Forbath, but elected to cut him mid-season. Forbath wound up catching on with the Saints in Octoberย of last year but was cut loose coming out of the preseason.
In 2015, Forbath appeared in 11 games and converted just 10 of 15 field goal attempts to go along with 34 of 35 extra point tries and 22 touchbacks.
