According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, QB David Garrard has told multiple Jets players that he does not plan to remain with the team.
- Adam Schein of NFL.comย received a text from Garrard that said “Having to call it quits. My knee is not holding up. Continuing to swell after practices. Limiting what I can do.“
- Garrard toldย Tania Ganguli of the Houston Chronicle that he is planning to retire from the NFL.
Garrard, 35, has not played in a game since the 2010 regular season due to injury.ย As of now, no details have been provided whether Garrard has retired or asked for his release.
With Garrard likely to retire, QB Geno Smith‘s probability of winning this quarterback competition has drastically increased as the Jets will now have more straight forward quarterback competition by havingย QB Mark Sanchez try to fight off Smith.
