A league source tells Adam Schefter that Dolphins DE Cameron Wake underwent a clean-up knee surgery to remove some cartilage.
According to Schefter, this type of procedure typically sidelines players for about four weeks, but Wake is known as being a quick healer, who could return as soon as next week for their matchup with the Lions.
Wake, 36, wound up going undrafted out of Penn State back in 2005. He signed on with the Giants but was released a few months later.
After two years in the CFL, the Dolphins signed him to a contract for the 2009 season.
Wake is in the final year of his two-year, $19 million contract and set to make a base salaary of $8 million for the 2018 season. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent in 2019.
In 2018, Wake has appeared in four games for the Dolphins and recorded 12 tackles, and a sack.
