Dolphins & Jarvis Landry Have Exchanged Contract Proposals, But Talks At Standstill

Josina Anderson of ESPN reports that the Dolphins and WR Jarvis Landry have exchanged proposals regarding a contract extension this month.

  • However, Andreson says that communication has come to a standstill the last two weeks and the last recommendation was made by Landry’s side.
  • Barry Jackson reports that there is some โ€œdistanceโ€ between the two sides in terms of their financial vision for his next contract.

Last we heard regarding Landry,ย Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reported that the Dolphins and Landry’s reps were in preliminary talks regarding an extension, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Salguero explained that Miami wanted Landry to improve his professionalism and in his game preparation along with fitting in their receiver room. Beyond that, the Dolphins are obviously aware that DeVante Parker will need a new contract soon enough, so they wanted to be sure that signing Landry long-term was the right move for them.

It’s worth mentioning that the Dolphins will have the franchise tag at their disposal next year. Although, that is projected to run themย $15,682,000 fully guaranteed for the 2018 season.

Landry, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2014. He’s entering the final year of his four-year, $3.5 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $893,852 for the 2017 season.

In 2017, Landry has appeared in 13 games and caught 88 passes for 745 yards receiving and eight touchdowns. He has also contributed 81 kick return yards. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 13 receiver out of 116 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 25 โ€“ 2018 NFL Free Agents list.

We’ll have more regarding a new deal between the Dolphins and Landry as the news is available.
