Dolphins Not Shopping LT Laremy Tunsil In Trade Talks, Despite Report

Update:

Barry Jackson and Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald are reporting that the Dolphins have made several veteran players available for trade, but not LT Laremy Tunsil, despite the recent report.

According to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins have assured Tunsil’s camp that there is no truth to the report he’s been made available for trade.

Teams have, however, inquired about Tunsil and the Dolphins have fielded these calls but haven’t acted on them.

Teams came away believing the Dolphins are willing to trade established veteran players for draft picks.

According to Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network, the Dolphins are shopping a number of veteran players in trade talks including LT Laremy Tunsil.

The Dolphins have reportedly shown trade interest in Trent Williams, which seemed curious at the time. However, if they’re looking to move Tunsil, they would need help at the position.

Trading Tunsil would be surprising, considering that he’s still on his rookie contract and a pretty decent tackle. Although, he’ll be in line for a long-term deal soon enough, so it’s possible that Miami is looking to see what they can get for him now before deciding whether or not to commit big money to him.

Tunsil, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2016. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $12,457,650 rookie contract and set to make a base salary of $2,148,771 for the 2019 season when the Dolphins picked up his fifth-year option this past April.

In 2018, Tunsil appeared in 15 games for the Dolphins and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 36 offensive tackle out of 80 qualifying players.
