Dolphins Signing Former AAF DT Joey Mbu

According to Cole Thompson, the Dolphins are signing DT Joey Mbu.

Mbu played for the AAF’s San Antonio Commanders this spring and was graded out by Pro Football Focus as one of the best DL in the league.

Mbu, 26, originally signed on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Houston back in 2015. He was on and off of the Falcons’ practice squad over his first two seasons in the NFL before the Redskins signed him to their taxi squad during the 2016 season.

Mbu returned to Washington on a futures contract in 2017 but he was once again waived at the start of the regular season. The Colts later signed him to their practice squad and eventually called him up in November. Unfortunately, the Colts waived him shortly after the 2018 draft.

Mbu signed with the Packers, but was released in final roster cuts. He caught on with the San Antonio Commanders of the AAF for their first and only season.

In 2017, Mbu appeared in seven games for the Colts and recorded three tackles and no sacks.
